Owen Wong

July 16, 2014 in In Memory, Their Stories by Cindy Leung

Owen was always a very brave boy. At age 9, he was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). He spent 6 months at the Hospital for Sick Children, receiving intensive treatment including a stem cell transplant.

When Owen was released from the hospital in March 2013, his family thought the battle had been won. However, in February 2014, the cancer returned.

Still the brave boy, Owen continued asking his community to help the close to 40 Chinese Canadian patients in need of a stem cell transplant by registering as a stem cell donor.

On October 9, 2014, Owen sadly passed away surrounded by friends and family members. We send our heartfelt condolences to his family. Owen will continue to be remembered for his courage and his fight to help find a match for other patients in need.
